Framed Luna

Featuring ancient mythological beings, anatomical drawings, dream imagery and religious iconography, Dan Hillier works with composite images and 19th-century engravings to create captivating, mystical works, blending Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana.

Composed from found images, Luna transforms a Victorian engraving into a portrait pagan goddess, wreathed in horns and flowers, beneath a mystical moon.

This piece is framed in a 25mm black box frame with white shadow float.

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com

Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.

About the artist
+

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dan Hillier – a visionary artist and close friend of Enter Gallery. Our condolences go to Dan’s family during this difficult time.

We are experiencing a high volume of enquiries for Dan’s work. Please contact us at hello@entergallery.com for further details.

A blend of Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana, Dan Hillier’s unique aesthetic captures the essence of antique imagery with a modern edge. Featuring ancient mythological beings, anatomical drawings, dream imagery and religious iconography, Hillier’s work is an eccentric wonderland, a vision of reality at the fringes of reverie, with an uncanny life of its own.

His creative process involves sifting through material from Victorian books and sourcing illustrations from woodcuts and engravings. Led by whatever imagery he chances upon, Hillier follows his own associations and intuitions, creating collages from the found material, incorporating his own intricate ink drawings, and finally adding digital layers to bring these vintage assemblages up to date.

Hillier has an impressive roster of commercial collaborations, having worked on: Royal Blood album covers; campaigns at the Globe Theatre; the Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton retrospective at The Louvre in Paris; and the opening credits for the 2018 BBC drama 'Requiem', to name a few.
