Homeless in Paris

Homeless in Paris is a limited edition silkscreen in colours with etching and aquatint by artist Blek Le Rat.

From an edition of 100, printed on 410gsm Somerset Satin paper, the piece is signed and numbered by the artist.

The Homeless in Paris 'Beggar' is modeled after the artist’s son. Originally stenciled on a blank façade in Paris in 2006, this work demonstrates Blek le Rat’s mounting concern regarding global homelessness and youth-related issues.

    Your Framing Options at entergallery.com

Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.

    About the artist
    +

If you asked Blek Le Rat who is among his most favoured admirers, he’d probably say Banksy.

Often hailed as the godfather of stencil graffiti, his precision and artistry has secured his position in history as one of the first street artists of his kind. He originally came to fame by stenciling giant rats all over Paris, to express his frustration with the plague of bad art sweeping the city at the time. His work is often fueled by fire, as his stenciling became more engaged with politics and social causes like homelessness and the environment. In 2005, he stenciled images of incarcerated journalist
Florence Aubenas that created public outcry, pressuring politicians and journalists to work harder for her release.

Blek Le Rat is a true pioneer in his craft, to the point where even Banksy had to concede, ”Every time I think I've painted something slightly original, I find out that Blek Le Rat has done it as well, only twenty years earlier." It’s difficult to create an iconic style of work to the point where even the best artists in the world recognise it as yours. Blek Le Rat has done exactly that.
