Everybody's Talking

Everybody’s Talking is a giclee print by contemporary illustrator Rebecca Strickson. Printed onto 305gsm Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 100% Cotton Rag paper, the piece was first released in 2020.

Strickson’s print ushers in an all-new decade: because, as the print states in big bold letters, Everybody’s Talking ‘Bout this New Decade. Combining Strickson’s love of 60s psychedelia with the loud slogans of trade union banners, Everybody’s Talking is an eye-catching kaleidoscope of colour and pattern.

With its allusions to the past, including the title, referencing the hit song from the 1969 film Midnight Cowboy, Strickson’s print also looks to the future from the threshold of a new decade. What’s in store? Only time will tell… From an open edition, Strickson’s bright and optimistic print is sure to get everybody talking.

    About the artist
    +

Inspired by the traditional imagery of trade union banners and protest placards, Rebecca Strickson’s work explores the power of community and collaboration. Using eye-popping, psychedelic palettes, bold and busy compositions, and fragments of typography, Strickson’s aesthetic harks back to the 1960s, the golden age of civil unrest and positive change.

Strickson has been shortlisted twice for the Association of Illustrators award and was selected to appear in the Association of Illustrators’ book, Images 36: Best of British Illustration in 2012. Since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2002, Strickson has also worked with a number of high-profile clients including Sony, O2, Nike, Channel 4, and artsy.com.

As well as illustration, Strickson creates large scale murals, embroidered banners, and colourful wall hangings.
