Slim Aarons is an American photographer known for capturing (in his own words) ‘attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.’ However, life wasn’t always cocktails in exotic locations for Aarons. The photographer began his career photographing soldiers in combat during World War II, for which he received a Purple Heart.
After the war, Aarons set his sights on capturing the lifestyle of the rich and famous. By winning the trust of his subjects, he was able to shoot some of the most intimate and candid portraiture of the 20th century.
The photograph was taken in 1955 and depicts Hollywood actor, Henry Fonda, floating on a rubber dinghy during the filming of Mister Roberts.
This C-Type photography print is available in a range of sizes, and is part of an open edition, stamped by the publisher.

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com
Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.
Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
Glazing our UK framing orders are shipped with glass. For our customers outside the UK we frame with gallery grade cast acrylic offering superb clarity and protection.
We've other framing options available too, such as ornate frames, float mounts or UV glass. Call our expert team for details: +44(0)1273 724829.

About the artist
Slim Aarons was one of the twentieth century’s most prolific documenters of celebrity and socialite life. Over six decades, Aarons photographed some of the world’s most beautiful people in some of the globes most desirable destinations: jet-setting from Beverly Hills to Capri to the French Riviera, Aarons snapped the likes of the Kennedy family, Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, and Grace Kelly.
The visual language that Aarons developed became a byword for luxury, often mimicked in the twin worlds of fashion and adverting as the peak of aspirational life-styling. Though Aarons’ photographs could pass for a Vogue shoot, the artist himself worked without stylists or artificial lighting, capturing his subjects in their own clothes and settings for an air of authenticity.
After Aarons death in 2006, there has been renewed interest in his work, and photographers and fashion designers, including Paul Smith and Tom Ford, continue to pay homage to the late great in their influential campaigns.
