We have entered the run up to the return of Enter Gallery's Art Yard Sale - one of the most exciting art events on the Brighton Fringe calendar.
In today's blog, we're running through some essential information about how the day is run, so that you can know how to best attack the day at one of the best things to do in Brighton for art lovers...
When is the Art Yard Sale?
The Art Yard Sale is making its triumphant return to the streets of Brighton as part of the Brighton Fringe on Sunday 5th June 2022, in Jubilee Square Brighton.
What is the Art Yard Sale?
The Art Yard Sale is a market-style event featuring 32 leading contemporary artists all manning their own stall, and selling their art directly to the public.
While artworks will range in price, as the name suggests, there will be some real bargains to be found.
Each stall will be stocked with original pieces, limited editions, and really special one-off items that you won’t find anywhere else. The event is also perfect for getting your hands on more unusual finds from your favourite artists – the kind of pieces you won’t find in any gallery. This could range from sketches that haven’t seen the light of day, to long-forgotten pieces found during studio clear-outs.
Opening Hours
The Art Yard Sale will kick off at 11am and run all day through to 5pm. If you’re hoping to get your hands on the serious bargains, or something really special, i.e. an original piece, we advise you to get there early to have the pick of the stalls.
How does the money work?
We use Enter Gallery Money at the Art Yard Sale rather than cash. Simply bring cash to the event, and exchange it for our money before you buy your art. Enter Gallery Money comes in all the typical denominations - £5, £10, £20 and £50.
There are two ways to get your hands on Enter Gallery Money depending on how you want to approach the sale:
1 – Keen beans: If you want to have your money at the ready bang on 11 when the doors open – come and exchange your cash at Enter Gallery on Bond Street between 9am - 11am on the morning of the event.
2 – Show up and see: After 11am, you can exchange your cash for Enter Gallery money at the Kiosk located at the entrance to the Art Yard Sale in Jubilee Square.
IMPORTANT: If you have Enter Gallery Money left over after you've made your purchases, we will exchange it back into real cash for you before 5pm. Visit us at the kiosk in Jubilee Square where we can do this for you.
What happens if I need my art wrapped?
There will be a wrapping station located next to the money exchange kiosk, where a member of the Enter Gallery team will be on hand to wrap up your new works of art so you can transport them safely home.
Can’t make the sale?
We understand that it’s not possible for everyone to make it down to Brighton for the sale, so don’t worry - Art Yard Sale pieces will be available online too.
All of the artists involved are producing a new limited edition print that will be a special price on the day. None of these works will be available to buy, online or in the gallery, before the event.
Each artist has agreed to allocate some of their edition to our online website, ensuring the event is accessible for those who can't make it on the day. These prints will go live on our website from 1pm on Sunday 5th June.
