The late Dan Hillier was a British artist known for perceptive and mind-opening artworks. Inspired by dream imagery, religious iconography and anatomical drawings, his work demonstrates a profound connection with the natural world and spiritual realms.
Hillier’s unique aesthetic blends Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana. By combining his own intricate ink drawings with found imagery sourced from antique books and illustrations, Hillier created eccentric wonderlands, visions of reality at the fringes of reverie, each with an uncanny life of its own.
Over his prolific and all too short career, Hillier clocked up an impressive roster of commercial collaborations with the likes of the Globe Theatre, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. He also created the album cover for Royal Blood’s self-titled number 1 album and the opening credits for 2018 BBC drama 'Requiem'.
