Born in London in 1943, Chris Orr studied at the Royal College of Art from 1964 to 1967. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1995 and served as Professor of Printmaking at the Royal College of Art from 1998 to 2008. Orr was awarded an MBE and made Professor Emeritus in 2008, and served as Treasurer of the Royal Academy from 2014 to 2018.
Orr has held numerous solo exhibitions worldwide, including The Complete Chris Orr (1976), Many Mansions (1990), Six Royal Academicians in China (2005), and LithORR graphy at the Royal Academy (2012). His works are featured in significant collections, including The Arts Council of England, The British Museum, Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Royal Academy of Arts.
