This August, Mod-mania is coming to Brighton! This is the Modern World is an exhibition featuring the largest collection of The Jam and The Style Council memorabilia to ever be collated in one place. Check out the exhibition yourself from July 30th to August 29th in Valley Gardens, Brighton.
To honour the occasion, and our city’s mod history – we’re giving away a print of Mods and Rockers by Dirty Hans to one lucky competition winner. Read on to discover more about the piece, and how you can be in with a chance of winning.
Clash of the Titans
Mods and Rockers is high-impact giclée print from contemporary artist and illustrator, Dirty Hans.
In the piece, Hans takes us on a day trip to Brighton Pier, a location closely-associated with both subcultures, due to its proximity to some of their infamous brawls. Fortunately, the groups appear to have buried the hatchet, as we see them shaking hands.
The beauty of Hans’ work lies in the subtle details he layers into each artwork, allowing new cheeky details to reveal themselves with every look. Eagle-eyed observers will spot multiple nods to Mod culture, including the targets adorning the pier, the Triumph logo, and a jacket with The Who’s logo on it.
This giclée print is from a limited edition of 95, signed and numbered by the artist.
