HISTORYNOW, The Cloud After Tiepolo 2022

This piece is one of two new editions released by YBA Marc Quinn in 2022 to coincide with the opening of his solo exhibition, HISTORYNOW. The exhibition took place at The National Archaeological Museum in Venice as part of the 2022 Biennale.

HISTORYNOW is a collection of work which examines humanity’s increasing dependence on our digital devices, and unpacks our ‘compulsion toward instant consumption and reaction’.

Each piece in Quinn’s series began life as an iPhone screenshot, and is designed to replicate the portals through which humans absorb and consume news, endlessly scrolling through word of natural disasters, shifting cultural events, and incidents of human tragedy.

This archival pigment print is from a limited edition of 65, signed on the front and numbered on the reverse.

Size (cm): 97.5 x 45

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com

Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.

If you would prefer acrylic or other options such as ornate frames or UV protection, please call our gallery team on +44 (0)1273 724829 for a quote, or message us at the bottom right of this page.

About the artist
+

One of the leading artists of his generation, Marc Quinn graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in History and History of Art before switching track to contemporary visual art in the 1990s.

Working across sculpture, painting, and drawing, Quinn incorporates a broad range of materials through both traditional and modern techniques. With his critical background, Quinn suffuses every work with a sense of the profound, tackling questions of the human condition through a contemplation of science and astrology.

Well-known artworks include the sculpture of the artist’s head, cast from his own frozen blood, and his depiction of the artist Alison Lapper on Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth in 2005. In 2001, Quinn also won The Royal Academy of Art’s Charles Wollaston Award for Catherine Long, a sculptural nude in white marble.
