Under A Hot Dusty Sky

Bonnie and Clyde is a Brighton-based artist who works with photography, paint, collage and print to construct mixed-media otherworldly vistas, rich in warmth and pure escapism.

Under a Hot Dusty Sky combines a number of motifs seen across the artist’s oeuvre, including architecture, greenery, swathes of blue sky and swimming pools. Speaking of her inclusion of water, she explains:

‘Water brings an element of escapism, but there’s more to it than that. Growing up, my Grandmother looked after us for a few years, and she swam every day. Water evokes fond memories for me. My affection for her is in the water.’

This giclée and silkscreen print with glazes and pearlescent ink is from a limited edition of 60, signed and numbered by the artist.

    About the artist
    +

After studying 3D Design at Kingston University, Bonnie and Clyde (aka Steph Burnley) set up a successful graphic design business creating posters, brochures, book sleeves, and signage for full festival campaigns.

As her passion for photography grew, she began to develop the distinctive practice she is known for today: combining her self-taken photographs with her graphics skills and a new talent for screen printing, Bonnie and Clyde has changed the landscape of mixed media collage for good. Blending monochrome with highly saturated colour, flat print with textured paint, and tactile elements of distressed paper and rough magazine cuttings, her collages capture the beautiful, messy, vibrant and chaotic nature of life in the city.

Highly emotive, Bonnie and Clyde’s work responds to socio-political environments, stamping her own personal experience on every work to immerse the viewer in beautiful and bizarre cityscapes.

Enter Gallery have hosted a number of events focused on Bonnie and Clyde's work, including Tomorrow's Parties in 2021, and Past Present Future Now in 2023.
