If you’ve long been admiring the haunting work of leading contemporary artist, Dan Hillier, today might just be your lucky day! Throughout October, we’re running an exclusive competition that will see one lucky winner take home an unframed limited edition silkscreen print, signed and numbered by the artist.
The piece that could be hanging on your wall come November is named Revelator. Created as the cover artwork for sci-fi novel, The Revelator by Daryl Gregory – the ethereal piece depicts an otherworldly creature pulling open a chest made from trees to reveal a galaxy within.
Hillier was catapulted to international acclaim after producing the album artwork for Brighton-band, Royal Blood’s self-titled first album. The artwork, titled Pachamama, went on to win the NME’s Best Vinyl Art Award in 2014. Since then, Hillier has provided evocative artworks for everyone from the BBC and The Globe Theatre to Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton.
To create his instantly-recognisable black and white work, Hillier first sources inspiration from antique books, woodcuts and engravings. Next, relying on his intuition to guide him, he creates collages from found imagery and produces intricate ink drawings to build detail and texture. Finally, he adds digital layers to imbue the works with the unique energy and life that bubbles off every piece.
This unframed silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 100, signed and numbered by Hillier.
The competition runs from Friday 8th October until 31st October. The winner will be drawn on Monday 1st November and Enter Gallery will be in touch to notify the winner.
