‘Come Out to Play’ By Rebecca Strickson

Inspired by the traditional imagery of trade union banners and protest placards, Rebecca Strickson explores the power of community and collaboration in her artworks. Using eye-popping, psychedelic palettes, bold and busy compositions, and fragments of typography, Strickson’s aesthetic harks back to the 1960s, the golden age of civil unrest and positive change.

Strickson has been shortlisted twice for the Association of Illustrators award and was selected to appear in the Association of Illustrators’ book, Images 36: Best of British Illustration in 2012. Since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2002, Strickson has also worked with a number of high-profile clients including Sony, O2, Nike, Channel 4, and artsy.com.

'Come Out To Play' is a limited edition giclée print with silver ink resembling a playing card; "I wanted to create something to remind me of summer holidays, of light-heartedness, of sheer simple joys. It's a simple call to go and enjoy yourself, safely, and sensibly! but still, have fun. You all deserve it."
