We’re thrilled to welcome the radiant and remarkable Ruth Mulvie to Enter Gallery, with a series of original paintings and limited edition prints that are bursting with joy, colour and nostalgia.
Ruth is a British contemporary artist known for her vivid portrayals of leisure, pleasure and escape. After studying painting at Glasgow School of Art and living in cities across the UK and Europe, Ruth now lives and works in Lancing. A lifelong swimmer and surfer, water is a recurring theme in her work – not just visually, but symbolically. Her paintings celebrate lidos, poolsides, coastal hotels and sun-drenched spaces where life slows down and colour comes alive.
Endless Summer at Saltdean Lido
Earlier this year, Ruth’s solo show Endless Summer took place at the iconic Saltdean Lido as part of Brighton’s Artist Open Houses festival. The exhibition received national attention, including a feature on BBC News, and drew art lovers in, keen to soak up the sunshine, both literal and painted.
The show was inspired by the memories of Saltdean locals, whose nostalgic recollections shared via recordings in the Saltdean Lido Heritage Hub became a rich source of inspiration. Having grown up in Harpenden, where she spent summers at the local outdoor pool, Ruth deeply connected with the themes of seaside nostalgia, summer ritual, and the simple magic of leisure time.
Her bold, expressive colour palette and surreal compositions give the work a dreamlike quality – her work has been called, 'a holiday for the eyes.' Each piece invites you to escape, reflect, and smile.
Painting Through the Storm
Endless Summer emerged during a time of personal change for Ruth. One of the standout pieces from the collection, Eclipse Season, explores themes of transformation, love shifting shape, and the search for meaning when everything feels uncertain. This piece is a love letter to new beginnings – full of symbolic details and a sense of spiritual healing.
We’re delighted to offer this powerful work to Enter Gallery collectors, alongside a number of new original works by Ruth Mulvie. View the full collection here.
Art by Moonlight
Art Consultant Madi, who moonlighted at the Endless Summer exhibition, worked closely alongside Ruth throughout the show. From soaking up stories behind each painting to sharing the meaning behind Ruth’s carefully placed details, Madi formed a real connection with Ruth’s creative process. Ruth was so impressed by Madi’s knowledge and passion that she asked to be represented by Enter Gallery so the partnership could continue.
