Framed Monkey Queen

Banksy is arguably the most influential artist of our times. Enigmatic, political, and always served with a dose of his trademark wit, Banksy’s politically-biting art exposes inequality and fights the power.

Monkey Queen is an iconic work and an exemplary example of Banksy’s defiant anti-authoritarian attitude.

Released in 2003, the piece was created to ‘Celebrate the fact that the highest position in British Society is not a reward for talent or hard work, but simply handed out with the accident of birth.’

Depicting HRH Elizabeth II as an ape in front of a Mod-style target, this inflammatory piece sparked so much news coverage for its disrespect of the late monarch that the fallout was dubbed ‘Banksygate’.

This piece is from a limited edition of 750, of which only 1-150 are numbered. However, this print is extremely rare as it has a duplicate edition number - a rare result of the artist losing count while numbering the edition.

This highly-collectible artwork comes framed in a black ornate frame.

Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
