    About the artist
    +

Following a successful career in the fashion industry, where she worked as a shoe designer for Paul Smith and an art director/designer for various magazines, Sara Pope made the move to start painting, taking the contemporary art world by storm.

Known for her enticing paintings of full, glossy lips, Pope’s work captures the seductive power of the mouth. Her process involves applying several layers of thin, oil-diluted paint (often with lipstick thrown into the mix), blending and smoothing the colours extensively until the full, photo-real force of gloss and shine is achieved.

Sara’s irresistible artworks explore notions of femininity, beauty and communication. Drawing on her many years experience in the fashion and magazine industry, she uses this perspective to create her unique visual language.

Pope’s work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions and art fairs across London and internationally, including Next Street Gallery, Paris, The Saatchi Gallery, London, The London Original Print Fair at the Royal Academy of Arts and SCOPE Miami, and sells work regularly at auction at Bonhams Auction House.
