Elvis Two Rivers 2014
Elvis Two Rivers 2014 is one of three in a series of etchings by Peter Blake that were by one of the artist's icons 1970s portfolios. The well known wood-engravings Tattooed Man, Bearded Lady, Midget, Fat Boy and Giant all appeared in Blake's portfolio 1974 and 1978 portfolios and held today in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the British Council, London and the British Museum, London.
For Elvis Two Rivers 2014 Blake has returned to this early etching style, to create a quasi-fauvist image of a tattooed man, his skin adorned with Native American designs.
Fuelled by autobiography and popular culture, Blake's work always contains a little of himself, and a little of the everyday. Accessible, while thought provoking, Elvis Two Rivers 2014 is like a mirror held up to the viewer: what do you see in Blake's staring portrait?
Printed onto 300gsm Somerset White paper and from a very limited edition of just 30, this hand-signed etching is an unmissable collector's find.
