This piece is from Scottish sculptor, performance artist and painter, Bruce McLean's Shadow Series - a set of four prints inspired by his garden in Spain.
The series, which also includes Grey Grow Green, Tree Fern and Shadow Yellow and Blue Grey Blind, all use bold shapes and thick abstract lines to create striking compositions of contrasting colour and shadow.
Provocative and probing, Bruce McLean is known for creating pieces that playfully mock the art world and challenge artistic traditions.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

About the artist
A leading figure in the development of 1960s Conceptual Art, Bruce McLean is regarded as one of the major players in contemporary British art. Rebellious and pioneering, McLean helped break down the rigid formalism of visual art, loosening traditional forms into abstraction and paving the way for Pop aesthetics.
McLean began his career making sculptures from rubbish and debris, abandoning conventional art to develop a satirical commentary that mocked the pomposity of the art world and its long-established forms.
He works across a range of media, including sculpture, film, photography, printmaking, drawing and live work, which continues to be exhibited in private and public collections around the world.
