Eriberto Oriol is considered one of the world’s most important contemporary documentarians of urban, hip hop and Latino culture, admired for his innate understanding of shape, line and shadow.
Oriol started his career as a photographer in the 1980s, documenting the forgotten corners of Los Angeles, with a particular focus on street art, homelessness and those protesting against the state.
His first show in 1989 attracted critical-acclaim, and was celebrated for drawing attention to issues that, prior to his show, often went un-documented.
