Jana Nicole Biography

Jana Nicole

Jana Nicole is a US-born, UK-based artist, renowned for mixed-media collages that fuse traditions of papercutting and relief sculpture with the exuberant energy of pop art.

Popular past works include her Animal Attraction series of anthropomorphic pin-ups, and her Cirques des Enfants series, which captured the enchantment of the circus. In her coveted, Portrait of Self series, Jana Nicole worked with Norman Cook in 2020, and the family of the late Joe Strummer in 2022, to create works immortalising these musical legends.

Jana Nicole is best-known for her award-winning Botanical Troupe series, in which she uses photographic and hand-drawn images to create painstakingly-crafted glowing wonderlands depicting the beauty of mushrooms, moss and mycelium.

In 2022, Jana Nicole received the prestigious Prix Puvis de Chavannes award for her Botanical Troupe installation from France’s 160 year old Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.

This marks the first time a non-French artist has won the award in the 100-year history of the society that has included artists such as Toulouse Lautrec and Manet amongst its numbers.

In April 2024, Enter Gallery hosted Jana Nicole's solo show, Botanical Scapes
