O is for Ornithology
This silkscreen print is from Peter Blake's 1991 Alphabet Series, which is inspired by people and objects who have made their mark on British popular leisure culture.
Widely considered to be one of his finest series' of work, the collection epitomises Blake's signature style, namely the use of "found' imagery sourced from magazines, postcards and other popular ephemera.
O for Ornithology features a collage of educational postcards, each identifying a different type of domestic canary. Birds are another favourite of Blake's - look closely and you're likely to find illustrations of birds in many of his collage-style silkscreens.
From a limited edition of 95, the print is signed by the artist.
