Urban Hymns
This piece was released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of The Verve's classic 1997 album, Urban Hymns. The album, which featured smash hits Bittersweet Symphony, Lucky Man and Drugs Don't Work, sold over ten million copies and remains the 18th bestselling album in the history of the UK charts.
Over the course of his career, shooting some of the biggest artists and bands in music history, Michael Spencer Jones has accrued many a fun story for how the album artwork came about, and this piece is no different.
Upon arriving at Richmond Park, ready to shoot the band, Jones was surprised to find another photographer there apparently for the same purpose: "He was setting up his lighting equipment but was taking far too long, and so tired of waiting, The Verve decided to go and sit down and enjoy the scenery. I happened to glance over and noticed that it was the first time in months that The Verve appeared relaxed (the recording of Urban Hymns, though extremely productive, was an intense time for them), so without a thought I went over and grabbed the shot whilst they were still unaware. The band loved the image and decided it should go on the cover.'

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com
Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.
Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.
