This piece is one of four silkscreen prints in Sir Peter Blake's Classroom Suite collection. The Aquarium, along with the other items in the series; Another Parade, Circus and On The Beach, all feature Blake's interpretations of popular leisure activities.
To create the artwork, Blake has over-populated his aquarium with images sourced from photographs, vintage books, fishing manuals and encyclopaedias. Each piece is cut out by hand.
It wouldn't be Peter Blake without his signature dreamlike touches, and in this instance, they come in the form of a sunken galleon ship and underwater palaces.
This silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 100, signed and numbered by the artist.
