The Dark Side of the Moon 40th Anniversary

The Dark Side of the Moon 40th Anniversary is a limited edition silkscreen print with embossing, gold leaf, diamond dust and glazes by artist Storm Thorgerson.

From an edition of 160, the piece was published in 2013.

Please note:

Dark Side 40th was in the final stages of production when Storm Thorgerson died.

The Print was proofed under Thorgerson's executive control, and he had discussed with Brad Faine of Coriander Studio what glazes and finishes should be applied to the final edition to complete it. The print has been finished exactly as per his wishes, each copy printed with Storm's signature.

The counter-signing of the print by the directors of StormStudios, Dan Abbott, Peter Curzon and Rupert Truman, confirms its authentication.

    Your Framing Options at entergallery.com

Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.

    About the artist
    +

Storm Thorgeson was a graphic designer and music video director who was the incredible mind behind some of the most iconic album covers of the last sixty years. In a career spanning six decades of music, Thorgeson produced album artwork for the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Muse, Genesis, Audioslave, Peter Gabriel and many more.

Thorgeson is most famous for designing more than ten album covers for Pink Floyd, most notably The Dark Side of the Moon, arguably the most famous album cover of all time.

Citing the Surrealist paintings of René Magritte as a major influence on his photography and collage, Thorgeson created vaguely-threatening photographic tableaux, featuring paranoid landscapes and physically-unlikely phenomenon…all long before the days of photoshop!

Of his creations, Thorgeson said: ‘I like photography because it is a reality medium, unlike drawing which is unreal. I like to mess with reality... to bend reality. Some of my works beg the question, is it real or not?’
