I Love Recycling

Sir Peter Blake’s tin-plate wall sign I Love Recycling blends iconic printmaking with environmental consciousness. Made in collaboration with Creatively Recycled Empire, I Love Recycling was first unveiled at the 2009 National Recycling Awards, held at the Hilton Park Lane.

From a limited edition of 5000, the piece is printed with 10 spot colours on durable tin-plate, using a lithographic press. Working with tin, Blake’s characteristically bright colours speak even louder than they do on paper or card, almost dazzling on the metal surface. Featuring the artist’s recurring heart, target, star, and rainbow motifs, bordered by the words I Love Recycling and a small impression of the artist’s signature, this work of contemporary pop art is nothing short of iconic.

Every plate is made from 56% recycled material and the carton, packing, interleave and certificate are all printed on post consumer recycled paper and card.

    About the artist
    +

Heralded as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art’, Sir Peter Blake was knighted in 2002 for his invaluable contribution to contemporary art.

Blake began his career creating collages from photographs, cigarette packets and matchboxes. This new approach to the creation of visual art – taking found imagery from Pop culture – was spearheaded in Britain by Blake and continues to inspire contemporary artists today.

Best known for creating the iconic cover to the Beatles’ 1967 album ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, Blake continues to produce work that draws extensively on elements from popular cultures around the world.
