New Wave superstar Patti Astor is gracing Brighton with her uber cool presence. Meet this New York art scene icon this Saturday at our sister gallery ink_d for a reading and book signing of her autobiography ‘Fun Gallery... The True Story’.
Patti Astor, actress, writer and art world radical, championed graffiti masters like Dondi, Futura 2000, and Zephyr, as well as Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf and Jean-Michel Basquiat from her famously subversive gallery ‘The Fun Gallery’. The gallery was the first to give one-man shows to graffiti artists and was voted one of New York’s most important cultural spots.
Patti is a true queen of the underground – from punk to hip hop, graffiti and street culture. She’s met everyone, from Andy Warhol to Madonna and Shepherd Fairey. You may recognise her from her role in cult hip hop film ‘Wild Style’ or several other New York City underground films of the 1970s that she starred in. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to meet her and hear some of her wild stories in person!
Calling all Brighton B-boys, Hove hip hop devotees and general graffiti aficionados! Patti Astor will be in ink_d gallery to sign a very limited number of books this Saturday (10th of May), 11am-1pm. Books will be £25 (cash only). This is your chance to meet a true culture revolutionary!
