If you were wandering through Brighton’s North Laines on Friday 1st March, chances are you heard the party happening at Enter Gallery.
With queues winding round the block and Fatboy Slim on the decks, this celebration of the Superstar DJ and his UK dance music chums, was a night that will go down in the Enter Gallery history. Here’s what you missed…
Everybody Dance Now
Enter Gallery was open late to celebrate the launch of Fatboy Slim by Jessica van der Weert – an exhibition from the DJs official photographer.
Jessica van der Weert has been capturing Cook for over a decade, collaborating with the Brighton legend on imagery that’s promoted his shows around the world, from Las Vegas to Ibiza.
Alongside multiple images of Fatboy Slim were pieces from van der Weert’s coveted Flipside collection, in which she has captured legends of the UK dance music scene as you’ve never seen them before.
From Annie Mac’s unruly wardrobe to Carl Cox doing donuts on Brighton seafront, the Flipside collection explores what each of these icons enjoy doing when they’re not behind the decks.
Party Time
This packed-out event was a real celebration of both the collaboration and the friendship between Cook and van der Weert.
The fun the pair have together during their shoots emanates from each artwork, with van der Weert doing everything from putting Fatboy in a skimpy towel, to pelting him with paint.
The crowd was a fun mix of music lovers, photographers, and artists, with the likes of Hannah Shillito and Vintage Shuffle in attendance – an artist who just last year hosted another sold out event in collaboration with Cook at Enter Gallery.
