Night of Becoming: Antonia Hazlewood Transforms The Globe

At our last event at Projects Brighton, Enter Gallery welcomed guests to Night of Becoming - an evening of art, performance, and transformation held at The Globe at Projects, Brighton. The event marked a truly special moment in the calendar, as Antonia Hazlewood one of Enter Gallery’s most exciting emerging artists, brought her work to life through a hypnotic live performance.

Inside The Globe’s circular walls, time seemed to slow. Guests gathered in quiet awe as Hazlewood and her performance partner, Hayley, transformed the floor into a living canvas. Their continuous line performance - a dialogue between Colour and Form, unfolded like a visual symphony. Movement became mark, mark became trace, and layers of charcoal built up into a storm of motion and emotion.

The performance was photographed by Ana (@feverish_photography) capturing fleeting moments of stillness amidst the fluid choreography. Accompanied by the ethereal harp of Alice Brightman, the atmosphere was at once meditative and charged. A space where the physical and emotional worlds merged in rhythm. Many guests described the experience as “mesmerising,” “calming,” and “deeply moving.”

Antonia Hazlewood: The Art of Becoming

A graduate of the University for the Creative Arts and recent nominee for the CVAN South East Platform Graduate Award, Antonia Hazlewood is an artist who dissolves boundaries. Her work moves between painting, drawing, and performance, tracing the ever-shifting relationship between body, material, and imagination.

In her practice, movement becomes both language and philosophy - a way of exploring what it means to be in constant evolution. As she explains, her process is an “inquiry into the threads of connection between humans and nature,” one that resists static definitions and instead embraces flux, transformation, and emotional release.

Introducing Fantastia

Following Night of Becoming, Hazlewood’s latest work, Fantastia, has now arrived at Enter Gallery.

This circular original painting embodies the cycles, wholeness, and interconnectedness of life. It challenges static conceptions, acting as a lens through which we glimpse the delicate intersection between shared human perception and the boundless possibilities of imagination.

Fantastia is a painting that operates through variation — shifting and changing with every encounter. It resists finality, unfolding infinite interpretations depending on who is viewing it. Its suggestive nature invites contemplation; the longer you gaze into it, the more that is revealed.

Like much of Hazlewood’s work, Fantastia is not simply a finished object, but a continuation and an evolution of the energy she channels in her performances.
