From Friday 30th September until Sunday 2nd October, Enter Gallery is bringing you our Virtual Art Yard Sale 2022 - an exciting weekend where you can snap up exclusive artworks from leading contemporary artists at very special Art Yard Sale prices.
To whet your appetite for what to expect, in today’s blog, we’re providing a sneak peek of some of the exclusive pieces included in this year’s Virtual Art Yard Sale.
Hand-painted Stay Funky - Mike Edwards
Brighton-based artist, Mike Edwards is a firm favourite with visitors to Enter Gallery for his hypnotic portraits depicting musical legends in the lyrics and song titles that have defined their careers.
For this year’s Virtual Art Yard Sale, Edwards has created a vibrant typographic portrait of The Purple One, Prince. The artwork features lyrics from classic tracks like Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret and When Doves Cry.
Edwards has accentuated the piece with a splash of his signature neon pink, to immortalise the lyrics from Prince’s 2007 track, F.U.N.K.
Stay Funky is a timed release, which means the size of the limited edition will be determined by the number of people who purchase the piece within the specified time frame.
As with all the timed releases in the Virtual Art Yard sale, the piece will go on sale at 9am on Friday 30th September, and will end at midnight on Sunday 2nd October.
Ambushed – Maria Rivans
Maria Rivans is another Brighton-based artist whose fantastical parallel universes celebrate the complexity of the world, and those of us that populate it.
Whether creating intricate portraits or futuristic landscapes, Rivans’ distinctive brand of Pop Art meets Surrealism weaves together vintage ephemera to create thoughtful and dreamlike tales.
Ambushed is from a limited edition of 30, depicting comedienne and actor, Danny Kaye, being swamped with palm fronds. In our current age of ego, the piece suggests that it’s Mother Nature who will have the last laugh.
Black Swan – Joe Webb
Joe Webb’s otherworldly oeuvre is defined by surreal and space age collages that explore profoundly human themes of love, longing and inequality. His works are consistently infused with a strong message, often with an environmentally-conscious or existentialist slant.
In this piece, Webb depicts a ballerina pirouetting in the cosmos, her tutu made of a swirling galaxy.
Black Swan is a limited edition print, beautifully-finished with UV inks and a glitter varnish.
Tarot - Handiedan
Our final sneak peek is this space-age print from Dutch artist, Handiedan. The limited edition giclée print is the artist’s interpretation of the tarot deck.
Handiedan is a prominent street artist, whose digital collage work explores feminine beauty and strength. By placing her classic pin-up girls within intricate backgrounds, the artist creates her own futuristic version of what it is to be a woman.
We hope that’s done the trick, and you’ll be logging on come September 30th. While the event is online, we’re hosting a Private View of the artworks included in the show at Enter Gallery in Brighton on Friday 30th September between 6-8pm.
Join us to see the exclusive artworks and to mingle with the brilliant artistic minds that have created them over a glass of bubbles. Tickets are limited so RSVP here to secure your spot.
