Support The Big Issue with Artist-Designed Wrapping Paper this Christmas

What if we told you, you can wrap your presents and support an important cause at the same time?

We’re delighted to announce that The Big Issue is back with their incredible wrapping paper initiative. Each year, the organisation enlists the creative minds of leading contemporary artists to design wrapping paper, and all proceeds raised go directly to those in need of support this Christmas.

Several of our artists are contributing their artworks to this worthy cause in 2024. Today we’re showing you their designs, and letting you know where you can buy wrapping paper with purpose this Christmas.

Wrap Up Warm

Joining The Big Issue’s festive tradition this year are four leading artists whose work is available at Enter Gallery, Rebecca Strickson, Hello Marine and The Cameron Twins.

Each design is sold as either a pack of five sheets of wrapping paper for £7.99, or as a signed limited edition single-image print for the bargain price of £39. The wrapping paper is of course printed on recycled paper and packed in recyclable plastic.

This cohort join many Enter Gallery artists who’ve participated in this important project over the years, including Patrick Hughes, Mr Cenz, Victoria Topping, Andrew Millar and Stanley Donwood.

Rebecca Strickson

Rebecca Strickson is celebrating the power of community and collaboration in her piece, entitled, Kickin’ Ass’. Speaking of the inspiration, she states:

“When creating the piece I was thinking of my journey as a working class artist having to navigate the industry with no one ahead of me to guide the way. What better time to get a message under people’s noses to remember the arts are in crisis for working class people than getting it on a present under the tree?!”

“If I can help raise money to help the most vulnerable in our society – and we say that a lot but what does it really mean? I think it means people on our streets at what may be their lowest point – then it’s a no brainer.”

Hello Marine

Brighton-based, French artist, Hello Marine presents a bold and colourful flower in her design, which she states, “symbolises growth and renewal, and represents the potential for a brighter future, even in challenging times.”

“The Big Issue not only provides a platform for vendors to earn a living but also helps to change societal perceptions around homelessness. Being part of this project feels like a meaningful way to make a little difference. Art has the ability to raise awareness and I wanted to use my skills to contribute to this cause.”

The Cameron Twins

Artistic duo, The Cameron Twins, have created an artwork featuring 16 different symbols of good luck from around the world. The pair gave this piece to The Big Issue in the hope that “its vibrant colours and meaningful message will inspire an uplifting atmosphere”.

The Cameron Twins expressed their hope that creative projects like Big Issue’s Christmas wrapping paper offering, “can be used to help raise awareness, shine a light on the housing emergency, and raise funds to provide vital support to people in need”.
