Boo Saville Biography

Boo Saville

Boo Saville produces work that is paradoxical: soothingly powerful. Renowned for her vivid abstract works that explore the relationship between colour and emotion, her work is so seamlessly blended that the paint still seems to be wet, shifting, melting into the canvas. Courageous simplicity requires meticulous skill, and Boo Saville’s precise layering of paint and understanding of texture results in immaculate dreamlike compositions.

Vastly different to her abstract fields, her drawings demonstrate her fascination with surface and texture. Applying her layering technique with biro to produce work that is stunningly rich and complex, simultaneously achieving lightness and intensity.

Featuring across the world, from Soho House to the Museum of New and Old Art in Tasmania, her diverse and vital body of work breathes life. Never shy to address difficult and complex ideas, her most recent show ‘Birth’ explores the under represented theme of the same name. Giving a voice and representation to what is still considered taboo topics in the art world, she delicately subverts traditionalism. Important and beautiful, her work has been sought after for years. Recently commissioned by Damien Hirst for his private museum, she’s one to bet on.
