Wonderland, Framed Original, 2014
Lidia de Pedro’s Wonderland is a dazzling, richly layered work that tackles the politics of power, movement, and belonging. Created using a mesmerising mix of acrylics, inks, watercolours and glitter, this large-scale original combines Lidia’s signature symbolic style with sharp social commentary.
In Wonderland, Lidia questions who gets to move freely through the world, and who doesn’t. Referencing themes of tourism, colonial legacy, and global inequality, the piece draws attention to the systems that control access to land and resources. Beneath its surface beauty lies a critique of how power shapes borders, opportunity, and exclusion.
As with much of her work, Wonderland balances the mythic with the modern, inviting viewers into a dreamlike landscape that reveals deeper truths on closer inspection. Brimming with intricate detail and tactile finishes, this is a standout original by an artist known for her ability to blend dark wit, layered symbolism, and fearless storytelling.
This unique piece is printed on 300gsm Somerset Cream paper, the comes signed and numbered by the artist.

About the artist
Lidia de Pedro is a Spanish visual artist whose vivid, symbol-rich works fuse humour, sarcasm, and storytelling. Trained in both Audiovisual Communication and Sculpture, she moves fluidly between painting, printmaking, collage, ceramics, and mixed media, creating dense visual worlds that challenge identity and societal norms while keeping a playful edge.
Originally from Madrid and now based between Barcelona and the UK, Lidia has been exhibiting since and her limited editions and artist proofs, often hand-finished, have become sought-after for their rare blend of classicism, modernism, and irreverence.
Her practice thrives on contradiction: vivid yet hallucinatory, empathetic yet dark, rooted in tradition yet breaking it apart. Each piece invites complicity from the viewer—an open-ended question rather than a closed statement.
