In the 1980s Richard studied Graphic Design and worked in London as a freelance commercial illustrator, producing work for titles like Time Out, City Limits, and Radio Times. After a period of international travel and a four year stint as a teacher, he set up an internet game portal and game development business in 2001 with a friend and spent much of the next decade developing and illustrating a string of highly successful online games. He and his business partner then decided to sell their company and, looking to move away from the digital world, Richard took up screenprinting full-time.
