Bring On The Night Time, Fluorescent Edition

Mike Edwards has created this piece especially for Enter Gallery's Art Yard Sale 2024.

Edwards' Bring on the Night Time features his Star Eyed Skull motif, which draws on a number of references from recent art history including Harvey Ball's Smiley Face, Keith Haring's Radiant Baby and Kaws’ X-eyed Mickey.

Edwards developed his skull motif as a gender and racially neutral Pop emblem that, “represents the mind floating through the world while the world floats through the mind."

The skull is a universal motif used to acknowledge our shared experience. Edwards depicts it in neon to symbolise how science, knowledge and art illuminate our lives.

This giclée print with hand-torn edges is hand-finished with fluorescent acrylic paint. It is from a limited edition of 50, signed and numbered by the artist.

    Your Framing Options at entergallery.com

Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.

Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.

    About the artist
    +
Mike Edwards is an established artist well known for his portraits made of text. New bodies of work show Edwards evolving from his recognised style, developing an increasingly sophisticated approach to painting. Some works retain a typographic aesthetic, whilst others incorporate painted neon, abstract expressionism and traditional landscape painting to produce a complex and energetic dialogue between the old and the new.Edwards has exhibited extensively, including three solo shows, and his work is in collections around the world, including those of Sir Bradley Wiggins, Imelda May, and the late publisher Felix Dennis. David Bowie signed Edwards’ unique typographic portrait of Aladdin Sane - which went on to raise phenomenal funds for charity at auction. His portrait of Lord Attenborough is on permanent display at The Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts, University of Sussex. Edwards' work was also included in Gilles Peterson's book 'Broadcasting in a Pandemic', a cultural documentation of a year in lockdown. An exceptional painter, Edwards started out as a professional artisan artist before developing his own body of work. Projects have included a stage set for rock band Blur and producing commissioned artworks for Bacardi, Budweiser and Urban Outfitters.Edwards continues to push boundaries in new paintings currently in progress in his studio in central Brighton.
