Framed Magnificent Standards I, 2024

Elizabeth Waggett is a British contemporary artist known for free-spirited depictions of animals and skulls. Her intricate work explores the beauty of nature, the fragility of life, and where we place value in our consumer-driven society.

This piece is from a trio of original works created especially for Enter Gallery in 2024. Lobsters are a defining motif from Waggett’s oeuvre, with the artist drawn to depicting them for their physical shape and what the creature represents. Waggett reveals:

I wanted to find a way to celebrate the beauty of this creature, the love we hold for it, while also representing how we use the animal world for personal gain. I love the lines and composition of the lobster, with its shine and complicated exoskeleton.”

This original artwork is created with archival pigment inks, charcoal, graphite and oil on cotton paper, against a background of 23k gold. The unique piece has deckled edges and comes signed by the artist.

Please note this piece is framed in a 25mm white box frame with a white shadow float and UV glass.
