For Sartre, hell was other people; for Damien Hirst, it's the stubbed out ends of cigarettes. A row of mirrored, medicine cabinet shelves have become home to an armoury of crushed cigarettes and Cuban cigars.
Part of Hirst's Utopia series, Hell 2012 captures the contradictions between desire and decline, life and death: all the glamour of the cigarette deleted as these ashy ends litter the medical cupboard.
Hirst's giclee is printed onto 310gsm Hahnemhle Photo Rag Satin paper 310gsm and finished with UV varnish and silver foil block. Dazzling and glossy, the print style artfully juxtaposes the image of the dirty cigarette butts.
From a limited edition of just 55, each one signed and numbered by Hirst himself, Hell 2012 is a rare and unmissable opportunity for the contemporary art collector.

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com
Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.
Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

About the artist
British art phenomenon Damien Hirst shot to fame after winning the Turner Prize in 1995. One of the YBAs (Young British Artists), who dominated the UK art scene during the 1990s, Hirst has always been contentious, impressing and shocking the art world in equal measure with his provocative approach.
His varied work explores the complex threads of relation between art, religion, science, life and death. Hirst works across diverse media, creating sculpture, installation, painting and prints. From diamond encrusted skulls to giant pills, colourful spot paintings to the life-and-death of butterflies, Hirst’s work might divide opinion, but one thing remains a constant: every piece is unforgettable.
In his own words: “Great art or good art, is when you look at it, experience it and it stays in your mind. I don’t think conceptual art and traditional art are all that different.”
