Tattooed People Lex

Since his career began in the 1950s, Sir Peter Blake has been prolific, creating paintings, collage, typography and more inspired by his fascination with popular culture. Blake’s impact on the face of contemporary art is so significant, he is now known as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art.’

Whether it's the most famous faces in the world, or imagined characters, portraiture has been a staple fixture of Peter Blake's work since the 1950s.

Blake's Tattooed People collection features intricate watercolour portraits of heavily-inked men and women. The series revisits one of Blake's favourite areas of interest: the circus, fairground and the side-show attraction.

Barely an inch of skin is left untouched on Lex, who has skull and face tattoos as well as a number of pieces inspired by nature.
