When Quentin Blake was commissioned to produce the image for the 2020 Lord Mayor's Show, he was following in the footsteps of artists including, Sir Peter Blake, Linda Kitson and Brian Grimwood.

Despite the show being cancelled (for only the second time in its 800 year history) as a result of the pandemic, Blake produced this evocative drawing of key workers on the frontline of the struggle against the virus.

This giclee print is from a limited edition of 75, signed and numbered by the artist.

    Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.

    As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

    Glazing all our framing orders are shipped with glass. We take great care with packaging to protect your artwork.

    Alternatively, for added piece of mind, we've the option of gallery grade cast acrylic, offering superb clarity and protection.

    About the artist

    Quentin Blake was born in London in 1932, and since he can remember he has always drawn. His first illustrations appeared in Punch at the age of just 16. After finishing his studies he taught for over twenty years at the Royal College of Art.

    He is a renowned illustrator, famously collaborating with writers such as Roald Dahl, Joan Aiken, Michael Rosen, John Yeoman and Russel Hobman. In 1999 he was appointed Children's Laureate, a post designed to raise the profile of children's literature.

    His artworks have earnt him numerous accolades including the highest award any illustrator can receive; The Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration.

    He has curated shows at the National Gallery, the British Library and the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris. He has also created large scale works for hospitals and healthcare settings in the UK and France for the public. 

    Quentin Blake has been admitted to the Legion d'Honneur and was created CBE in 2005, is an RDI and has honorary degrees from UK universities. He received a knighthood for 'services to illustration' in 2013, and became an Honorary Freeman of the City of London in 2015.
