Nana Looks In 2021

Conor Murgatroyd is a Bradford-born artist, known for painting still life pieces and distinctly-British landscapes, inspired by a mix of past events, wistful memories, emotions and pure imagination.

In Nana Looks In 2021, Murgatroyd demonstrates his skill for painting floral arrangements in this colourful depiction of a lady and her trusty dog taking a moment out of their day to admire the display. It is one in a line of works by the artist to capture typical shops.

Murgatroyd explains: "I love shopping. For food, clothes, jewellery, fish, you name it. I get a kick out of it. I wanted to create work about my favourite shops and the people in them. I love good characters, they're what makes the world go round, and the places I paint are full of them.'

From a limited edition of 15, this giclee print is signed and numbered by the artist in verso.

    About the artist
    +

Conor Murgatroyd is a Bradford-born, London-based artist, known for colourful and structured paintings. Distinctively British in appearance and sense of humour, his art evokes a feeling of nostalgia and strives to, ‘make sense of the tangled web of influences, events and emotions that make up the existential human experience.’

Often likened to René Magritte and David Hockney, Murgatroyd’s art is inspired by his working-class roots, multiculturalism and the people and places he has encountered since moving to the capital.

In his paintings, Murgatroyd bring together characters and objects, both real and imagined, to inspire the observer to consider the raw beauty of everyday moments and things.
