Magnus Gjoen’s work treads a fascinating line between humour and horror. By offering a modern take on old masterpieces, and transforming items typically associated with violence into delicate works of art, Gjoen challenges our preconceived notions of beauty.
This print depicts a skull, composed of cleverly assembled scenes from classical antiques and artworks. Roman statues and cherubs gather around an ancient marble fountain, while lush foliage crowds in at the edges. On a shield, nestled amongst flowers and leaves, Gjoen has inscribed his familiar +MG signature.
This giclée print is finished with UV inks and liquid silver. It is from a limited edition of 80, signed by the artist.

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com
Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.
Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.
Glazing our UK framing orders are shipped with glass. For our customers outside the UK we frame with gallery grade cast acrylic offering superb clarity and protection.
We've other framing options available too, such as ornate frames, float mounts or UV glass. Call our expert team for details: +44(0)1273 724829.

About the artist
Formerly a shoe designer for Vivienne Westwood, Magnus Gjoen’s migration to the world of printmaking has been nothing short of spectacular: his highly stylised and effortlessly stylish prints have earned him a reputation as one of the contemporary art world’s most sought after rising stars.
Incorporating elements of renaissance, baroque, street and fine art, Gjoen’s work explores the juxtapositions between life and death, power and fragility, and beauty and destruction, for an aesthetic that is at once opulent and macabre. From human skulls to hand grenades, Gjoen drapes his subjects in sumptuous swathes of Baroque design, creating a dramatic style that demands attention: this is not for the faint of heart.
