In the name of spreading festive cheer, this month Enter Gallery is running an exclusive competition giving one art lover the chance to win a print from the most glamorous photographer of all time, Slim Aarons.

Christmas Swim

The winner of the competition will take home an unframed 76x100cm C-type print of Christmas Swim. The photograph was taken in Hollywood in 1954, and depicts Slim Aarons’ wife, Rita, floating in a pool decorated with a Christmas tree and baubles.

Enviable glamour

Slim Aarons said it best when he described his work as photography of: ‘Attractive people, in attractive places, doing attractive things.’ Over the course of the 50s, 60s and 70s, the ex-war photographer was welcomed into the homes and parties of the who’s who of America’s social scene. In winning the trust of his subjects, Aarons was able to shoot some of the most intimate and candid portraiture of the 20^th century.

Whether capturing enviable properties, beautiful people bathed in sunlight, or models, actors, singers and socialites oozing sartorial style, Aarons’ instantly-recognisable photography provides a glimpse into high society. Even long after his death, such is the reach of his work, Aarons’ influence can still be seen in fashion, film and interior design.

The competition runs from Wednesday 1^st December until Monday 20^th December. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 21^st.
