June 4th: Enter Gallery’s Art Yard Sale Returns to Brighton!

Great news! There’s just one month to go until Enter Gallery’s highly-anticipated Art Yard Sale returns to Jubilee Square as part of Brighton Fringe.

From 11am-5pm on Sunday 4th June, 39 leading contemporary artists will be manning their own market stalls, selling never-before-seen art directly to the public.

This special day is one of the best art events in Brighton. It’s your chance to meet your favourite artists and discover new talent while snapping up exclusive artworks at special Art Yard Sale prices.

In today’s blog, we’re running through all of the essential information, so you’ll know exactly how to make the most out of the day.

The Essentials

Enter Gallery’s Art Yard Sale takes place in Jubilee Square in Brighton, right in the heart of the North Laines, and just around the corner from Enter Gallery.

Entry is free, but you will need to bring cash with you to exchange for special Art Yard Money. This is the only form of payment that the artists are able to accept.

Art Yard Sale Money

To avoid the artists having to handle money on the day, all items purchased at the sale have to be paid for with Art Yard Money.

Each year, we get a different artist to design the money, and this year it’s the turn of local artist, Sarah Arnett.

If you have your eyes on specific pieces and want to be ready to go when doors open at 11am, we recommend exchanging your cash for Art Yard Money at Enter Gallery on Bond Street. We will be open from 9am on the morning of the sale.

There will be a stand in Jubilee Square where you will be able to exchange your cash for Art Yard Sale Money, but please be aware that the queue can be quite long.

Art Yard Sale Money is available in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50. It’s a good idea to exchange more than you anticipate spending to avoid having to change up more money. Whatever you have left over, we will exchange back into GBP for you, either at the sale, or in the gallery until 5pm on Sunday 4th June.

Enter Gallery will also be accepting Art Yard Sale Money until 5pm on 4th June.

The Early Bird

Alongside bringing cash, the other most valuable piece of advice we can give you about the big day is to get there bright and early! Last year, art lovers were queuing around the block to snap up the biggest bargains and rarest finds.

Stalls will commence trading at 11am on the dot, so plan your day to arrive early if you have your eye on something specific, or if you have your heart set on finding something truly unique. The earlier you arrive – the more choice you’ll have!

The Art

This year, we have 39 artists hosting stalls at the sale, including the likes of RYCA, Charlotte Rose, Joe Webb and Bonnie and Clyde.

The idea of the Art Yard Sale is not only to provide an opportunity for you to meet the artists that you love, but also to give you the chance to snap up art you’re unlikely to find elsewhere.

Each of the artist’s stalls will be stocked with a range of items that you won’t want to miss.  Alongside exclusive artworks created especially for the day, each of the artists will also bring along original pieces, smaller studies, works from their personal archives, clothing, ceramics and everything in between.

Not only is the art something special, so are the prices. Many of the artworks on sale will be set at very special Art Yard Sale prices. On the day, we will also be offering 20% off framing for any pieces that you buy at the Art Yard Sale. Simply pop into the gallery on Bond Street on Sunday 4th until 5pm to discuss framing options and to secure this discount.

For those who can’t make it to Brighton for the event, there will be a selection of works from the day available to buy online here from 1pm on Sunday 4th June.
