Framed Lolita
Maria Rivans is known for her collaged Pin-Ups of Hollywood starlets. For Lolita, Rivans works with an image of Swedish icon Anita Eckberg, famed for her portrayal of Sylvia in Federico Fellinis 1960 classic, La Dolce Vita.
A headdress of flowers, fronds and foliage adorn the silver screen beauty, studded with imagery of travel and escape: a steam train whistles into the future; golden sands are glimpsed through an arch; a hot air balloon floats up and away; and an eagle spreads its wings in flight. Silver watch-fobs and white feathers form Eckbergs dress collar, adding the ephemeral element of time to this bright, beautiful, and conceptually thoughtful print.
Please note: This piece comes framed in a 25mm white box frame with white shadow float and regular glass.

Your Framing Options at entergallery.com
Box framing is provided with all our online framing, creating a distance between the glass and your artwork, so no risk of ink transfer to the pane. it's the perfect, gallery grade choice for limited edition prints or original artworks.
Shadow float mounting is an option at our website, to give the appearance of an artwork floating within the frame. The mount – an archival foam core – creates depth too, by casting a shadow beneath the artwork. We highly recommend using a float mount when framing artwork with deckled (hand-torn) edges.
As always, all our materials are sustainable and archival to keep your artwork in mint condition and perfectly presented. Simply choose from our white or black float framing options, before adding to basket.

About the artist
Taking a unique approach to collaging, Maria Rivans is known for her layered imagery of vintage Hollywood. From starlets to Sci-Fi, B-movies to TV trash, Rivans’ passion for bygone cinema is palpable, infusing every piece with a life of its own.
Merging Pop Art with Surrealism, her work overflows with elements – a rich fusion of the organic and artificial, the urban and the natural, the human and the animal. Finely tuned to colour and compositional harmony, Rivans uses her distinctive approach to vintage adding a touch of humour, optimism, and inspiration.
In 2017 and 2018, her work featured in The Times newspaper and, in 2018, her Film Still ‘Understanding Nothing’ was selected for the Royal Academy’s 250th Summer Exhibition.
