Patricia MacCarthy Biography

Patricia MacCarthy

Patricia MacCarthy is an award winning Freelance Author/Illustrator for children’s picture books, as well as a gallery artist.

Following a BA(HONS) Degree in Graphic Design at Brighton Uni back in the 80s, Patricia has generated a huge quantity of published books, greeting cards and decorative commercial products. She was awarded the New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year for 17 Kings and 42 Elephants, written by the late inimitable Margaret Mahy, and was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Award for her picture book Moon Forest, published by Frances Lincoln. She has a book series, Dewdrop Babies, published by Random House, and another series, Wilderness, published by Otter Barry Books.

Patricia exhibited and sold work at the Langham Gallery in Bloomsbury, London, with a wildlife style of flowing line, wash and mixed medium.

Emerging through her most recent work is this brand new, wildly rich and vibrant, digital and enhanced style, that she is thrilled to be creating and proud to present via the Enter Gallery and beyond. Though wildlife is Patricia’s biggest inspiration, with all its majesty and mystery, there is much, much more on the horizon.
