Banksy’s Turf War. The super-rare, unsigned first edition arrived back into our Soho gallery this week coveted by eager eyes and lots of excited behaviour – not seen one of these for a while!
Originally released in 2003 to accompany what seemed like Banksy’s ‘Turf War year’. Turf War was the title of one of his very first London shows in 2003 and just before that, during the May Day Riots, he had the superb, and exquisitely simple idea, of taking a little strip of turf and placing it on the head of the statue of Winston Churchill that sits in Parliament Square...and so the print was born.
