Join us at Enter Gallery on the evening of Wednesday 8th February for an evening of avant-garde flower arranging and still life creation with star of Netflix’s Big Flower Fight, Yan Skates.
From 6pm - 8.30pm, Skates will be teaching attendees all his extravagant tricks of the trade.
Here is everything you need to know about Plant Eat Man: A Still Life Exercise with Yan Skates…
Flower Power
Welcome to the colourful world of Yan Skates – a flower designer who made waves last year when him and fellow florist, Henck Röling came second in The Big Flower Fight – a TV show that pitted contestants together in a contest of floral design.
Prior to his TV debut, Skates has taken on the world of competitive floristry, winning a Chelsea Gold Medal and 1st place at Hampton Court Flower Show.
Skates has also established a blooming career crafting unbelievable floral designs for events, weddings, fashion shoots, music videos and everything in between.
In 2022, Skates collaborated with a fellow Enter Gallery artist, to create the Hannah Shillito x Yan Skates Collection, teaming Yan’s beautiful still life design, with Shillito’s tongue-in-cheeky typography.
Plant Eat Man
At the workshop, Yan will be guiding attendees through the same edible-botanical-manmade challenge that he took on himself during lockdown in 2020, inspired by Swedish designer @nicklas.h and his hashtag #baroqueikebana.
The idea is to produce a simple creation, with an ikebana aesthetic, using something edible, something botanical and something man-made.
Workshop attendees should bring along something to use in their floral arrangements for each of these three elements. There will also be a small selection of materials supplied on the night. Each creation will be photographed afterwards.
Join us for what is sure to be a fun and creative evening of learning floral design from one of the most exciting names in the game.
Spaces at this event are limited, so RSVP here to secure your spot today.
