Brighton Fringe is in full swing, and you know what that means? Enter Gallery’s Art Yard Sale is fast approaching! On Sunday June 4th from 11am-5pm, Enter Gallery is taking over Jubilee Square in the heart of Brighton’s North Laines.
On the day, your favourite artists will each be manning their own market stall packed to the rafters with original works, exclusive limited edition art prints and previously unseen pieces, all available at special Art Yard Sale prices.
If you aren’t able to make it to Brighton on the 4th – fear not – you can still join in the fun. A selection of artworks created especially for the event will be available to buy online from 1pm on the day of the sale. These on-the-day prices will only be available for one day only and will increase on Monday.
Here’s a little sneak peek of some of the artworks that you’ll be able to buy online…
Making his debut at our 2023 Art Yard Sale is Mr Preston – a Manchester-based tattoo artist whose limited edition prints combine melancholy imagery with black humour to explore themes of existentialism and classical philosophy.
Preston has created a Brighton-themed piece especially for the Art Yard Sale, capturing the haunting remains of our beloved West Pier. In Brighton, Preston quotes Sylvia Plath speaking about the healing power of the sea in a letter to her mother, Aurelia.
This three-colour silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 30. You’ll be able to snap it up on the day for the special Art Yard Sale price of £220, after which it will be £290.
In 2022, Poppy Faun’s Art Yard Sale stall exuded the otherworldly aesthetic that we’ve come to know from the artist and her work, with a huge selection of original works and prints available exclusively at the sale.
Her piece for this year’s event combines vibrant geometric blocks of colour with imagery sourced from magazines from 1970. In line with her latest releases, Seize the Day and The Time is Now, the work is not only visually pleasing, but also a reminder to live in the present moment.
From a limited edition of 10, Happy For This Moment, will be available for £350 until midnight on the 4th, and £495 thereafter.
Kate Jenkins is a Brighton-based artist known for fun artworks crafted using her supreme talent for crochet, embroidery and knitting.
This year is Jenkins’ first at the Art Yard Sale, and we just know her stall is going to be a real treat. Each of her artworks, many of which are based on our favourite foods and snacks, are infused with a wonderful sense of humour and her Art Yard Sale piece is no different.
In Stitch Attack, Jenkins recreates the most famous film poster of all time – Jaws. On the day of the sale, this limited edition giclée print will be available for the special Art Yard Sale price of £480, after which it will be £550.
Through her work, Marcelina Amelia explores everything from self-acceptance and female sexuality to Polish folklore.
She has created Everything I Have Learnt From the Cherry Tree, Mini especially for the Art Yard Sale. Inspired by the tree outside her studio, the piece explores our connection with nature. Speaking of the artwork, she reveals:
“Like this tree, I am also constantly experiencing rituals of transition, liminal states where something old has to die in order for us to enter a new piece of ourselves.”
From a limited edition of 30, this piece is available for £140 on the day of the sale, and £180 thereafter.
Eddy Bennett’s Art Yard Sale stall is always one to watch. Known for gorgeous carefully-crafted artworks, Bennett combines the traditional craft of sign painting with a modern Pop Art aesthetic that people can’t get enough of.
This year, Bennett has created Nice Life, a cheerful piece of a flower basking in the sunlight. This giclée print with glitter glaze is from a limited edition of 30, and you’ll be able to snap it up online on the 4th for £200, after which it will be £275.
Lauren Baker is known for ethereal artworks exploring everything from metaphysics to the cosmos. Each piece is designed to raise our collective consciousness, and to make us feel loved and connected.
Another Art Yard Sale first-timer, we can’t wait to welcome Lauren Baker to Brighton, where we’re sure her spiritual art will connect with many.
Baker has created a mini print of Stardust and Spaceships especially for the Art Yard Sale. From a limited edition of 100, this giclée print will be available online from 1pm at the special on-the-day price of £100, after which it will be £150.
Bonnie and Clyde
Last year, Bonnie and Clyde’s stall was a hot favourite at the Art Yard Sale, with art lovers clambering to snap up her escapist collages that summon the warmth of summer days.
Bonnie and Clyde has created Sweet Tooth especially for the sale, and the piece has all the hallmarks of one of her works, from her own photography, to the water, palm trees and classic cars that define her oeuvre.
This giclée print with silkscreen gloss will be available online on the day for the special Art Yard Sale price of £300, after which it will be £450.
